Our Impact
Re-Cycle has been sending bikes to Africa for 25 years and has sent over 145,000 bikes and hundreds of thousands of spare parts.
All the bikes and parts that we receive are donated by the generous UK public. Every single bike that is received into our warehouse is checked and if suitable for Africa, prepped and loaded onto a shipping container and sent to one of our partners.

Projects
The involvement of Re-Cycle bicycles has played a pivotal role in funding various initiatives, including a fundamental Cycle to School program.
In 2023 WYCE enhanced mobility and inclusivity by distributing 390 bicycles to individual students, including those facing health challenges such as amputees, elderly individuals, and physically challenged people in the communities. This initiative not only improves their transportation but also contributes to their overall well-being and community integration.
Our partners, Care Providers Foundation Zambia has procured 3,600 packets of sanitary towels and 720 tablets of soap worth ZMW 87,500 (£3,500). This initiative, aimed at supporting menstrual hygiene management, reflects our commitment to ensuring that young girls can pursue their education without hindrance.
The Care Providers Foundation funded this noble cause through the sale of Re-Cycle bicycles. The funds generated from the bicycle sales have been instrumental in making a positive impact on the lives of 1,200 girl learners in six selected schools.
This provision will empower the girl learners, allowing them to focus on their education throughout the entire first term of 2024 without the burden of worrying about their menstrual hygiene.
Care Providers Foundation Zambia, funded by the sale of Re-Cycle bicycles, has undertaken a crucial project to enhance access to clean water in schools. Through this endeavor, the foundation has successfully rehabilitated five boreholes located within school premises.
Among these boreholes, three were in a state of complete disrepair, while the remaining two required some attention for optimal functionality. The rehabilitation efforts have not only revitalised the water sources but have also significantly contributed to improving the overall hygiene and well-being of the school communities.
Additionally, they have provided tools to the teachers and students to help maintain the boreholes.
