Introduction:

In Zambia, the impact of bicycles provided by Re-Cycles partner, Care Providers Foundation Zambia, unfolds through the inspiring story of Ms Mano, a teacher at Kandulwe Primary School. The project carried out Care Providers Foundation not only brings mobility to individuals but also channels the funds back into the community for vital projects.

Background:

Kandulwe Primary School, situated near Luansobe Secondary School, faces a challenge – the absence of school houses. Teachers, including MS Mano, commute from Kaloko, a community approximately 6 km away. The lack of infrastructure necessitates a daily journey for educators, highlighting the critical role transportation plays in ensuring quality education.

The Bicycle’s Role in Daily Life:
Ms Mano, having acquired a bicycle through Care Providers Foundation Zambia, has experienced a positive transformation in her daily life. The bicycle serves as her reliable companion, enabling her to cover the 6 km distance between Kaloko and Kandulwe Primary School effortlessly. Beyond her professional commitments, Ms Mano utilises the bicycle for personal activities, including a 4 km journey to attend church regularly.

The bicycle is also a reliable mode of transportation for Ms Mani when she needs to travel to the nearby town to collect her monthly salary. Covering a distance of approximately 16 km, she pedals to the roadside, where she can board a bus to Kapiri Mponshi town.

Economic and Social Impact:

Care Providers Foundation Zambia is committed to community development.

The money Ms Mano invested in purchasing the bicycle directly contributes to community projects. This creates a sustainable cycle of empowerment, as the funds circulate within the community, fostering improvements in infrastructure, education, and overall well-being.
