Donate your unwanted bicycles to Re-Cycle and help us continue to change lives in Africa.
We rely on the generosity of individuals like you to sustain our mission.

Re-Cycle wants to ensure that the bike you donate to us has enough life left in it to transform another person’s life in Africa for years to come. Therefore we want to make sure the bikes that are donated to us are still in good working order.
Ideally, we only want bikes that have less than 25% rust on the frame. We are happy to accept bikes with flat tyres and rusty chains as these parts can be replaced.
The bikes most requested by our partners are :-
• Adult Mountain bikes and hybrids
These strong bikes are particularly suitable for unmade African roads
• City and commuter cycles
These are very practical bikes and 3 speed hubs are low maintenance – (often with 3-speed hubs, mudguards and parcel carriers)
• Small wheeled children’s bikes
(12” to 24” wheel) these are also requested by our current partners. However we don’t send ‘toy’ sized bikes.
• Road Bikes
(Racing and Touring cycles with drop handle bars and narrow tyres) – although these are not happy on rough, unmade roads, they can be sent to projects based in cities that have a network of tarmac roads. Touring bikes are sturdy and have load carrying fixings and capacity
• Shopper bikes
(with small wheels, typically with 3-speed hubs, mudguards and parcel carriers) – these are very easy to ride, even for inexperienced cyclists, and are very quickly adjustable for riders of different heights
When we receive your bike in our warehouse, we will assess its suitability for Africa. If it does not meet our criteria, we will look to find the best alternative use for it. Although we want to send the maximum number of bikes that we can, we won’t send bikes that are not suitable.
LOCAL BICYCLE COLLECTIONS
If you’re within 10 miles of our warehouse (CO6 3AJ) and have 1 to 5 bikes to donate, we may be able to collect them from you.
Got more than 5 bikes? Even better! We might be able to collect from further afield depending on your location and the number of bikes—just let us know.
Need Us to Collect Your Bike?
If you’re able to bring your bike(s) to us, that’s always the best option. We have limited resources and rely on volunteers to help with collections, so every drop-off saves us time and fuel—and helps us do more with less.
