Bicycling Empowerment Network
The mission of the Bicycling Empowerment Network (BEN) is to provide access to opportunities through the use of bicycles, offering hope and a helping hand to those in need. Your support is crucial in turning this mission into reality.

Re-Cycle has sent BEN
Re-Cycle has sent BEN
BEN’s overarching goal is to foster sustainable social and economic empowerment through the utilisation of bicycles. This is achieved by ensuring a consistent supply of donated and affordable bicycles to disadvantaged communities and institutions.
BEN actively distributes a significant number of bicycles through collaborative projects with various organisations and donors. Notably, in the School’s Cycling Programme, we distribute bikes to schools across the Western Cape, providing mechanical and safety training to the beneficiaries. The bikes used in these projects are #Bike4Alls, a joint partnership with Pedal Power Association, with other distribution costs covered by additional donors.
Small and Medium Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and Community Partners
Central to BEN’s distribution strategy are the Small and Medium Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and Community Partners established by BEN.
These centers, overseen by community-based entrepreneurs, play a crucial role in the distribution of bikes within their communities. Trained in small business management and bike mechanics, these entrepreneurs not only receive bikes from BEN but also ensure their roadworthiness.
