A Big Partnership with a Big Impact

Bicycles for School in Malawi

We’re really excited to share news of a major new partnership that will see over 1,000 bicycles donated through Re-Cycle in 2026, thanks to the support of Center Parcs.

Center Parcs is known for its car-free villages and love of cycling, with thousands of guests enjoying their extensive bike fleets every year.

As those bikes are retired and upgraded, rather than being wasted, they are now being given a second life through Re-Cycle – going on to support communities where access to transport can be truly life-changing.

The first shipment of bikes has already arrived in The Gambia, with many more collections planned throughout the year from Center Parcs’ UK villages.

Marking the partnership

To celebrate the partnership, a striking bike installation was created at Center Parcs Elveden Forest using 200 donated bikes. The large-scale display highlighted the scale of the commitment and the journey these bikes are about to take. Once the shoot was complete, the bikes were dismantled and collected by the Re-Cycle team, ready to be shipped on to their new owners.

Since the partnership began, nearly 500 bikes have already been donated, with further collections scheduled as Center Parcs continues to refresh its fleets.

Why this matters

At Re-Cycle, we see every bike as an opportunity. A bike can mean:

  • A safe and reliable journey to school

  • Access to work and income

  • Easier transport of water and essential goods

  • Greater independence and opportunity

The bikes donated by Center Parcs are in excellent condition, reflecting the care taken by their dedicated maintenance teams, and they will make a genuine, long-term difference in the communities they reach.

Charlotte Ward, Director at Re-Cycle, said:

“This partnership with Center Parcs is something we’re incredibly proud of. These bikes will go on to change lives, opening up access to education, work and essential services. It’s also a brilliant example of how organisations can work together to reduce waste while creating real social impact.”

Looking ahead

This partnership is a fantastic milestone for Re-Cycle and a powerful example of how unwanted bikes can be transformed into tools for change.

We’re hugely grateful to Center Parcs for their commitment and support, and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact of these bikes as they reach their new homes.

If you’d like to support Re-Cycle’s work — by donating a bike, volunteering, or partnering with us — we’d love to hear from you.
