A recent bicycle distribution in the Rokassa community, Sierra Leone, has helped 25 students gain easier access to education through the gift of a bicycle.

Our partner organisation, Village Bicycle Project, distributed 25 Re-Cycle bicycles to students who previously walked up to ten miles each day to attend school.
Alongside the distribution, each student received bicycle training to help them ride safely and confidently.
The recipients included 14 girls and 11 boys, all of whom were delighted to receive their bikes. For these students, a bicycle means shorter and safer journeys to school, improved attendance, more time for studying, and greater opportunities to succeed in education.

Many of the bicycles distributed through this project were donated through Re-Cycle’s partnership with Center Parcs.
Since the partnership began at the end of last year, Center Parcs has donated more than 700 bicycles, giving retired fleet bikes a valuable second life.
Rather than going to waste, these bikes are now helping young people access education and opportunities across Africa.
