When you donate a bike to Re-Cycle, the impact goes far beyond transport. In Zambia, our partners Care Providers Foundation (CPF) are using funds raised through the sale of Re-Cycle bikes to tackle one of the most urgent community needs: clean water.

In 2025 alone, CPF rehabilitated five boreholes across the villages of Malembeka, Mumba Masepele, Wila Wila, Muone, and Nkoloko. These boreholes had fallen into disrepair, leaving families to walk long distances or depend on unsafe water sources. Many households had no option but to draw from stagnant hand-dug wells or polluted streams — water that often carries harmful bacteria and spreads disease.
Restoring these boreholes has provided a safe, sustainable alternative, transforming daily life for hundreds of people.

Photos from the project show local people drawing fresh water after rehabilitation — a powerful reminder of how something as simple as a bike can create ripple effects across a whole community. The process involved repairing pumps, replacing broken parts, and restoring functionality so these boreholes can keep serving villages for years to come.
This work doesn’t just quench thirst; it safeguards health, reduces illness, frees up time (especially for women and children who often fetch water), and allows communities to focus on education, farming, and building brighter futures.
