Rotary Clubs Lead a Strong Start to the Year

Bicycles for School in Malawi

The year has barely found its feet and already Rotary clubs across the UK are proving just how powerful local action can be.

Thanks to the dedication, organisation and community spirit of several brilliant Rotary groups, January has delivered a strong start for Re-Cycle — and dozens more bikes heading to communities who need them most.

Rotary Clubs

Rotary support has always been vital to Re-Cycle’s work. From organising collections and rallying local donors to arranging transport and storage, Rotary clubs consistently go above and beyond.

These January collections are a perfect example of what happens when committed volunteers come together with a shared purpose: real, tangible impact.

Blyth Valley Rotary: 59 Bikes Collected

Rotary Clubs

On Sunday 11th January, Blyth Valley Rotary hosted a bike collection at Southwold Putting & Café On The Green. The following day, 12th January, one of our Re-Cycle volunteers headed out with a Re-Cycle van to collect an impressive 59 donated bikes.

A huge thank you to Blyth Valley Rotary for a brilliantly run event and to everyone who donated a bike — each one will soon be helping someone access education, healthcare or work.

Hoddesdon Rotary Club: 34 Bikes Collected

Rotary Clubs

The momentum continued on Saturday 17th January, when Hoddesdon Rotary Club held a collection in Hoddesdon. Our volunteer driver collected the bikes on Monday 19th January, bringing back 34 bikes ready for refurbishment and shipment.

Another fantastic example of local people stepping up and making a big difference with a simple act of generosity.

Berwick Rotary: Two Days, Double the Impact

Rotary Clubs

Berwick Rotary went the extra mile by holding two bike collections, on Saturday 10th January and Sunday 18th January, at Berwick Quayside. Across the two days, the club collected around 80 bikes — an incredible result.

The bikes are now being delivered directly to our warehouse with the generous support of local building firm MT Richardson, who are helping transport the donations and ensure everything reaches us safely.

Thank You, Rotary

Rotary Clubs

These collections alone represent over 170 bikes that will soon be transformed into life-changing tools for people in rural Africa. None of it happens without the passion, organisation and hands-on support of Rotary clubs and their volunteers.

To every Rotary member involved: thank you. You’ve kicked off the year in style — and proved once again that when communities come together, amazing things roll forward 🚲
