Our UK and Overseas Operations

Huge thank you to all our UK Partners

At Re-Cycle we really appreciate every bicycle donated to us.  Some are brought directly to our warehouse from individuals, some are one-off bulk donations and others are donated via our valued UK partnerships.

We have 2 main corporate bike donor partners, Gladwells Pet and Country Stores, and Halfords retail stores.  We also have many local community bike supporters from Rotary.org.  Our bike donation partners help us access bicycles from all over the eastern region and the wider UK. We also have partnerships with universities and railway companies such as Greater Anglia.

Without the support from our UK partners, the numbers of bikes that Re-Cycle sends to help people in Africa would be significantly reduced, so we are really grateful for all of the bikes donated.

We are so pleased to see an increase in bike donations this year from around the country to support what we do – changing lives through bicycle re-use. After a difficult couple of years, this increase will have a huge positive impact on our partners in Africa. Our plan to send 14 containers this year is on track with our 8th container recently loaded. Containers have been sent to all four of our partner countries, The Gambia, Ghana, Zambia and South Africa. So far this year we have sent 4,130 bikes and thousands of spare parts.

We are also delighted to announce that we have just shipped our 125,000th  bike!!! We are so proud of this achievement and thank everyone involved who helped us make this happen, from our bike donors, to our volunteers, our corporate partners and staff team.  Together we have made this possible and as we move pass this momentous milestone, we look forward to sending our next 125,000 bikes with your help. If you have a bike that you don’t use anymore and would like to donate it to us to give it a new lease of life in Africa, please visit our website www.re-cycle.org to find your nearest drop off point.

As well as sending our 125,000th  bike we are also celebrating another big milestone for our charity – this year we are 25 years old! We were created in 1997 and since then have grown into the wonderful charity we are today with the help of so many people. So, thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey over the last 25 years and we look forward to celebrating our next milestone with you all soon.
