A Milestone for Re-Cycle’s Newest Partnership
Yesterday, we waved off our very first container bound for Nigeria – marking an exciting new chapter for Re-Cycle and our partnership with the Gabriel Rotimi Aroge Empowerment Foundation (GRAEF).

This container is the launchpad for the pilot Cycle-2-School Project, an initiative designed to tackle one of the biggest barriers to education in Nigeria – transportation. Many students face long, unsafe journeys to school, resulting in high absences and dropout rates.
Bikes to Africa
In this pilot year, Re-Cycle is providing bicycles, along with spare parts, tools, and mechanic training.
Ahead of loading, our volunteers carefully prepped each bike – turning handlebars and removing front wheels to make them as compact as possible. This process ensures we can fit as many bikes as possible into the container and maximise the impact of every shipment.
GRAEF will manage local coordination, deliver road safety education, and monitor the project’s impact – ensuring each bike has a lasting effect.
Together, we are supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Nigeria’s road safety policies, and the UN Decade of Action on Road Safety, helping vulnerable students access education safely and sustainably.
Last week, GRAEF’s founder, Rotimi Aroge, visited our warehouse to see his first container in person before it began its journey. That journey is now officially underway – taking these bikes to the students who need them most.
This is more than just a shipment; it’s the first pedal stroke towards breaking transport barriers and creating brighter futures for Nigerian schoolchildren.
